Last weeks District meeting (usually Tuesdays) we talked about Animo and Disanimo, which is to have the Spirit or not with us. We talked about how most people are looking for or desire to feel secure in a world that is changing everyday, and that the gospel fulfills that! We read Alma 26:27-30 and that sometimes we need to feel a little suffering or pain to have exito / success!
Chileans: When we contact, typically you would knock on doors, but we need to yell : ALO!! For every course, Breakfast, Lunch, and Once (small dinner) they always need to have bread! Pan asado, sopaipillas, you name it! They like to cut words, and some phrases they say is Al Tido! Like asap, and Po after everything. Everyone says hi with a hug and a small kiss on the cheek. (with the woman it´s ok, but we always have to explain before hand with the men that are not members only the mano! (hand!)
My Companion: She was born and grew up in Manaus, the Amazon in Brazil! She moved to Saou Paulo 3 years ago in the Campinas area. She is always singing in portugues, and started teaching portugues after I teach english! She was baptized 9 years ago with her two sisters, brother and mom. She introduced Palta (Avocado ) with Milk to me!
Yesterday we had a Noche de Hogar ( Family Home Evening) with the Family Suazo, a less active family and I showed them the video ¨The Refiners Fire¨ and that through our experiences we can be molded into what Heavenly Father wants us to be! It was great, and afterwards we ate Completos.
We are trying to work more with the members this new cambio and now we have a new hermana who just arrived from Guatemala! Hermana Lopez! I´m not the wawita ( baby) any more! This week has had its ups and downs, with our Investigators, but we found an Incomplete Family and they are sooo good! Always miracles and blessings when we do our part, Heavenly Father always is there for us during our times of tribulation and success. I am good now. but another hermana is now sick..boo..but the weather has been changing like crazy here too. Primavera, Spring is coming next month!
I love you guys so much and appreciate all the support and prayers!
Con Amor,
Hermana Gourley
